Minders in the Newsrooms, Oh My! Free Speech must die.

Free Speech Must Die? Did I really say that? Actually, I did not, but others did, and are. It seems that the irresistible force of rising leftist socialism has collided with the immovable object, our Republic’s Constitution and Separation of Powers. Our last line of defense.

The masks are off and the battle is increasingly in plain view. The radical left cannot maintain or advance its agenda unless it can silence free speech. The Obama throne sits on layers of lies. For a time these were well-crafted, plausible lies in the Saul Alinsky tradition, but no longer. Now they are outrageous lies, increasingly ridiculed. This can’t go on. Something has to give.

The Obama FCC’s recent off-the-wall Executive Order to put minders in our nation’s Newsrooms sparked a firestorm from both the left and the right. The Obama media was silent, but this time it didn’t matter.

The word was out and the public was outraged. After a few days this plan was “postponed,” and now we are told it has been cancelled. Don’t believe it for a minute.

Just as America has moved past believing  the “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor” lie (Which made lie of the year for 2013), so it is that most have moved past  believing this greater lie, “If you like your free speech, you can keep your free speech.”

When Tyranny is afoot, that is NOT how things work.  We have a Republic only if we can keep it. This issue is not going to go away, unless We the People force it to go away. Washington DC will not fix itself unless citizens force our elected officials to do so.

When asked recently to comment about minders on the blog of a popular NW radio host, Victoria Taft, here is what I contributed:

“The Obama FCC’s plan to put “minders” into newsrooms is on temporary hold due to public outrage (and opposition from the head of the FCC himself), but we can be sure that it will be back.

How can citizens know this with certainty? Easy.

It is but one small part of Obama’s Saul Alinsky communist (small “c”) agenda to silence free speech of all types. Obama signaled his intent clearly in his infamous State of the Union address when he used his “bully pulpit” to bully and abuse the Supreme Court Justices who had ruled against him. They were forced to sit silently and take it.

Since then, we’ve suffered a constant string of Obama assaults to bypass Congress, attacks which are increasing in number and scope. The article and my blog post below are recommended reading. The Obama media is complacent. It is an integral part of Team Obama’s propaganda machine. Goebbels would be proud.

We should be afraid, very afraid. This is Tyranny, pure, simple, and evil.”

The link to Ms. Taft’s blog is below. You will see that my comments were relatively mild when contrasted with those of my peers, and that no one thinks this is over.

Victoria Taft will have me on her show on March 20 at 8 AM West Coast Time. We will discuss my new novel, Soft Target, and — most likely — the “red zone” where Thriller novels like mine are increasingly crashing into harsh reality. My 2012 novel Privacy Wars predicted the NSA scandal and won three National Awards.

Here are a few links that support the views that I expressed on Ms. Taft’s blog:

This need to silence the free speech of opponents is coming up on every front, as, to the left – as those from Alinsky to Marx have argued – everything is political. Here is what Wall Street Journal recently said:

“Surely, some kind of ending is upon us. Last week climate protesters demanded the silencing of Charles Krauthammer for a Washington Post column that notices uncertainties in the global warming hypothesis.” Here is the full article.

What does the other side say?

It says, “Go for it.”

A student writer at Harvard University is raising eyebrows after publishing her belief that free speech on campus should be abolished and professors with opposing views be fired.

Sandra Korn, a senior who writes a column for the Harvard Crimson newspaper, thinks radical leftism is the only permissible political philosophy, and the First Amendment only hinders colleges from brainwashing students with her viewpoint.

“Let’s give up on academic freedom in favor of justice,” states the subtitle of her Feb. 18 column, in which she insists Harvard stop guaranteeing students and professors the right to hold controversial views and conduct research putting liberalism in a negative light.

Ms. Korn is not alone. Senator Chuck Schumer gave a speech at the Soros-funded Center for American Progress recommending that the IRS must “redouble” its efforts to silence opposition groups. Harry Reid and others mounted a blitz from the floor of the Senate to silence cancer patients who were complaining that ObamaCare had stripped them of the Health Care, drugs, and doctors they needed to survive.

“There’s plenty of horror stories being told (about ObamaCare)…. all of them are untrue, but they’re being told all over America.”

Senator Harry Reid

It is a felony to use government bureaucracies, especially the IRS, to target political enemies, but this has now been going on for several years, and, so far, our feckless Republicans have not done anything to stop it. Congress fully deserves its abysmal approval ratings.

Incidentally, despite what you hear in the news it is NOT just TEA Party groups being targeted. Groups with no political agenda except truth are being targeted.

Here is some recent compelling testimony to Congress given by a courageous woman, Catherine Engelbrecht of True the Vote. She testified to Congress about her extreme harassment from a number of agencies because of her efforts to require things like photo IDs to validate eligibility for voting. She was targeted for advocating truth.

MoralBulliesSocialists (from Stalin, to Hitler, to the jihadists) commit evil deeds out of a belief that, as Marx said, “The end justifies the means.”

Progressives and Alinsky communists (small “c”) — alliances of the needy and the elites — are among the most insidious. They create fear and divisiveness, wrap their agendas in a narrative of “social good,” bully, and blame their opponents when things get worse.

Ben Carson, the conservative black Doctor, is considering running for office. He, his family, and those he worked with were all targeted by IRS audits. Here is what he said.

Dinesh D’Souza, who authors best-selling books and movies critical of the Obama Administration, is facing felony charges by a Federal Prosecutor who was an Obama donor. Christian ministers have been persecuted. And then there is Sarah Palin, Herman Cain, Allen West, and on and on.

All coincidences, I’m sure.

“The Federal Bureaucracies have been weaponized.”
